The Machakos School

Machakos School is one of the pioneer schools which have adopted the peer to peer mediators club in the country. The school has witnessed a lot of social stability among the learners from the time the school embraced the new concept of propagating mediation practice among learners with the objective to make them become conflict competent Peer to Peer Mediators club of Kenya will be holding a special sensitization forum in the school with the view to popularize the concept among the learners and teachers alike.

Grace Ngugi Maina

Madam Grace Ngugi Maina who is currently serving on the advisory board of Peer to Peer Mediators Club of Kenya will be leading the team of experts during this interactive programs with the learners. Madam Grace Ngugi is Education/Curriculum Advisor, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) & Disater Risk Reduction Expert, formerly Deputy Director and curriculum specialist in charge of Special Needs Education (SNE), Pertinent and Contemporary Issues (PCIs) cross cutting issues in the curriculum and Alternative Provision in Basic Education (APBET). Madam Grace is Education and Life Skills Education Consultant, Trained Disaster Risk Reduction Educator (IGAD member states). Value-Based Education and Parental Empowerment.

She has passion in mentoring young people, marriage and family life Educator, sits in the International Advisory committees and conference in Peace Education and Education in Emergency. Internationally trained in Human sexuality and HIV and AIDS. She is an author, mentor and career counseling expert. Madam Grace is also professional certified mediator with MTI East Africa and a board member Peer to Peer Mediators Club of Kenya

Olivia Achieng Obel

Madam Olivia Achieng Obel is a seasoned mediation training expert at the Peer to Peer Mediators Club of Kenya, formerly Director Aids control unit/ADSA/DM Kenya prisons Headquarters Magereza House. She is chartered mediator trained at MTI East Africa. Currently serving at the Training Director at Peer to Peer Mediators Club of Kenya

Activities expected

Training in Peer to Peer Mediation will take place side by side with sensitization about the need to embrace peer mediation in schools as the most preferred way of dispute resolution among learners. The ultimate objective here is to empower learners to become conflict competent.

School administrators are also not left out in this special forum since they are the overall supervisors in this unique club. Role play mediation will also be conducted by learners in order to train them to have the requisite knowledge on how to handle mediation process among learners should need arise.
